Rachel and Rob’s wedding came round really quickly after their e-shoot and yet again they were blessed with beautiful weather. The day started early at the venue - the wonderful Coombe Abbey.

The day was so relaxed yet varied - I swear we must have utalised nearly every room! From the intimate ceremony in the Harrington room to the specatcle that is the Abbeygate banqueting hall.

Rachel made the most amazing bride and Rob an incredibley chilled out groom which in turn made for a wonderful day.

It gets close to the date and we still haven’t met up and by this time I’m thinking she is going to be way too busy to fit me in now - and I was right. So this is the first time I have ever done a wedding without meeting the couple beforehand. I get to the church with my second shooter for the day, Ben, and head inside.  I introduce myself to the Vicar and we get chatting, I mention that I have never met Izzy before and he responds with ‘well believe me you won’t forget her!!”

I speak with a nervous looking Ian and before you know it the car with Izzy in has arrived. I run down to meet them and wow! She looks amazing and already I’m blown away by her infectious laugh. Within seconds I felt like I had known her for years. Shooting this wedding was really different to our usual weddings, we just photographed the church and the evening reception and kept it all pretty tradional - No flashes, no posing, no fancy locations just two really happy people and their lovely family and friends. I really hope their fantastic personalities come across in these images and most of all I really hope Izzy & Ian like them.

Anyway once we got back we had to dive straight back into work, firstly with our first wedding of the year (coming soon) and then prepping for the National Wedding Show at the NEC.

Now not only was this in itself a huge task but I decided that a whole new rebrand was in order. At Kin (where the studio is based) I work with a fab graphic designer Paul Hill who has produced the most amazing new material for depict including a brand new logo and put together an amazing looking catalogue too. Hopefully in the not too distant future I will be roping in Marcus - kin’s web developer to work his magic on a new website to accompany our new look!

After a lot of last minute deadlines and plenty of rushing around we made it to the show - and what a show it was. We were so busy for the entire weekend and we had a great time meeting some fantastic people. I am so looking forward to working with so many great couples. The phone hasn’t stopped ringing for the last two weeks and my inbox litterally exploded last Monday so we have all been very busy bunnies.

Before showing you a few snaps of the stand I just want to say a HUGE thank you Ruth and Judy who helped me out at the show. There is absolutely no way I would have been able to manage without you both so thank you sooooo much xx. I would also like to thank Claire Evans and her mum for being so lovely during the show - It’s always nice to see a friendly face! Finally I just wanted to say a big thank you to Emily Quinton who gave me so much advice about doing the show - without that valuable insight I would have never even considered attempting to do it and really has changed our business overnight! thanks all xx

These are my vinage hallway drawers that I filled with fresh flowers - though most people thought they were fake!!!

I absolutely adore Craspedia - If I was planning my wedding now I would use so much of this stuff - I LOVE it.

Finally my two fantastic assistants at the end of day 3. I did buy them a massage at the show so don’t feel too sorry for them.

What made this trip so great was that I got meet so many fantastic people. At the convention I finally met up with the amazing Chris and Dani from CBMedia - check them out as their wedding photography blows me away. I also met up with several other photographers including Louise Beattie & Mark Skeet who are both fellow [b]school members.

On top of all the photographers I also met two new couples - Alex & Jo who are getting married later this year and Jenni & Neil who on the day of this photoshoot were celebrating their second anniversary and who are planning on getting married next year.

We had such a great time down in London - It took several days to recover from all the running around but we loved every minute of it!

After a wonderful few days celebrating Christmas with Friends and Family we are now back ready for what is going to be a very exciting new year. After months and months of waiting we have now been given a moving date - next Friday!!!  So please bear with me if I do not reply to your emails in my usual speedy manner but I am going to be in and out of the studio for the next week. Things should return to ‘normal’ by Monday January 11th.

Sally and Peter have been together for about 18 months and about 6 months ago, during a game of scrabble, Peter proposed! While Sally was out of the room Peter stole several of the letters and when the time was right spelt out the words ‘marry me’. This explains Sally’s choice of earrings on the wedding day - The S&P are from the actual set they played.

Sally contacted me after seeing some of my work on the RocknRollBride website (THE best wedding blog by the way!!!) she liked what I did and I loved the sound of her wedding.

Sally is studying for her MA at my old university (Derby). She is incredibly talented and used her skills to create the most fantastic details for the day.

Sally’s vintage dress was shipped over from the States and accessories ranged from homemade flowers to etsy purchases. The Church where they were married was screened off and sofas brought in to make the ceremony an intimate and special occation for immediate family and closest friends only.

living up in Derbyshre (Matlock) Sally and Peter have access to the most beautiful locations. Being avid readers the pair had asked to have their photoshoot in Scarthin Books at Cromford. The owners opened up especially for us and we had the most fantastic time exploring the 3 three floors of little reading rooms, revolving bookcases and obviously all the books!

We then went around the corner to Arkwright Mill for a quick outdoor shoot before the rain came down!

Being originally from South Africa (then the seychells and Canada) Sally opted to have her reception at a South African themed bar in Nottingham. The reception was actually a tea party complete with cupcakes made by different friends, about 20 different selections of tea all served in vintage tea cups, homemade paper flowers, a book swap, craft table and finally everyone was given handmade wedding packs including bags to fill with Tea and sweets to take home. Each wedding pack also contained a limited edition print of one  of Sally’s illustrations done especially for the day.

Sally and peter had decided to have their wedding ceremony split into two parts - the official part in the morning at the church with the vows and ring exchanges during the afternoon. Whilst they carried out a ring warming ceremony with all of  the guests Sally’s brother, Jeff - who had flown over from Florida to be there, played guitar and sung (beatifully). The rings were wooden and made from both South African and British varieties combined.

Sally and Peter’s faith, love for each other and their family was overwhelming - we were privileged to be part of their amazing day - thanks guys x

Dan & Tanya got married on 31st October and it was the most beautiful autumn day. The light in the afternoon made my job a dream and I am so happy with the photographs from the day. Tanya looked amazing, her dress was stunning and their choice of venue was breathtaking. They had their reception in the beautiful orangery at Kilworth House after having reception drinks looking out onto the fields of Leicestershire.

Dan & Tanya (plus their friends & families) were great fun to be around and we had a fantastic time. Thank you for letting us part of your day x
