This is me and my husband Kevin - together we run depict photography.
I have been taking photographs for as long as I can remember. My first camera was a Kodak 110 camera that I acquired from my parents aged 8 - you know the ones that took the tiny negatives in the spools.
Once I got over wanting to be a vet aged eleven I only wanted to be a photographer- ever since I saw my first image appear in the developer in my friend’s dad’s darkroom - from then onwards I was hooked. I used my Granddads old SLR camera and my dad built me my own darkroom in the attic - which I used excessively through my teens. I studied photography at Derby university and became a lecturer in photography as soon as I left. I lectured for 5 years before deciding to give it up and start my own photography business - with the help of my wonderful husband.
Me and Kev met whilst at University and have been inseparable ever since. We got married last year back in Derby (as we now live in Coventry - where I was born) He is a media technician and continues to work at Coventry University whilst I manage the business full time. His tech skills are always called for on my shoots and you will usually find him carrying around all my stuff, holding my strobes and generally being a star!
As well as taking portraits of families, individuals and weddings I try and fit in a few other photographic based activities such as photography workshops which I run for people wanting to improve their photographic skills. I also run a photogroup for other photographers to meet once a month and chat about what work they have been up to. Both of these are based at the Fishbone Gallery in Coventry which I have also exhibited work at.
