DDay revisited trip to Normandy 2013 – Depict Photography

As we commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the DDay landings I thought it fitting to blog the photos we took on the trip out to Normandy for the 69th Anniversary with DDay revisited. If you follow the blog you will know that we worked with the charity the year before on their trip to Bletchley – this time we were lucky enough to go all the way to France with them. It’s hard to put into words what this experience was like. Very emotional at times – during the wreath laying ceremonies, visiting friends and family’s graves, hearing stories that you would not believe could be experienced by men & women so young. At times though it was incredibly uplifting – these veterans are so full of life and laughter and are an absolute joy to spend time with. In Normandy they are treated like the heroes they are, the people who helped liberate a country. I guess with us never being occupied like the French we find it harder to understand how important this moment in time was but over there the School children treat them like they are superstars. Some brilliant moments in there Kate! It was such a pleasure having you and Kev along last year and all the vets were asking after you earlier this month; sending you both their very best wishes : )
